Rio Celeste Waterfall Hike Tour & Sloths Garden

Rio Celeste Waterfall Hike Tour is a great expedition in Guanacaste for those looking to discover the rainforest, and the amazing blue light waters of the Rio Celeste Waterfall. Later you will visit the Botanical Garden where you can see a great number of sloths, frogs, and birds.

We start the drive early morning, we will take you from the tropical dry forest flat lands to the amazing rainforest.  Right in the middle of the Guanacaste mountain range is where the Rio Celeste Waterfall is located, at the Tenorio National Park.

We begin with a 40 minutes hike by primary and secondary rainforest trails that takes you to the renowned, Rio Celeste Waterfall. Enjoy the view of the 65 feet spectacular fall and the blue light lagoon formed with its waters. The legend says that the River got its name from the fact that God, after painting the skies, cleaned his brushes in these waters.

Rio Celeste Waterfall Hike Tour continues through the rainforest where you will find areas with boiling-water springs. As well, numerous columns of bubbles rise from the depths of calm waters to burst on the surface. Later you will arrive at “Los Teñideros”, our guide will explain to you the chemical reaction generated by the union of the volcanic minerals present in the rivers. Also, learn about the optical effect caused by sunlight.

Finally, you will visit a botanical garden where you can see sloths, blue jeans, and red-eye frogs, also birds and different flora.  This Guanacaste Tour is a great experience for those looking to enjoy the rainforest and discover some of flora and fauna of Guanacaste Costa Rica.
